You can’t be a proper Discord kitten without cat ears on your gaming headset. But what if instead of cat ears, you had Pokemon ears, wouldn’t that be cute? That’s the idea behind Razer’s new gaming headset based on Gengar, the original ghost-type ghoul from Pokemon Red and Green. Unfortunately, the headset and the rest of Razer’s Gengar line is only available in China right now, so if you live anywhere else, you’ll have to import them through third-party channels.
The full Gengar x Razer collection was originally announced back in July, though the headset itself has only gone on sale this week. The line includes the headset, a mouse, and a desk mat, each adorned with Gengar’s sinister grin. You can find the headset on sites like AliExpress. Every piece of the product line has shown up on reseller sites like eBay, and there are already listings for just the headset that are slightly inflated. They roughly cost the equivalent of $125 USD, but early eBay listings are floating around the $200 mark. The price will likely go down in the coming weeks and months, but there are options out there for those who desperately need Gengar ears on their head when gaming. Just don’t keep them on your head too long, lest you end up with a headset-shaped dent on your skull.
Razer has collaborated with Pokemon before, including a line of Pikachu and Eevee-themed accessories like a keyboard, soundbar, headset, desk mat, and mouse pad. It’s a shame these are exclusive to China, especially given how prevalent scalping and reselling are in the Pokemon community. Limitations on who can buy something inevitably mean that well-meaning fans will have to play into those schemes to get the merchandise they want.
